Tigers’ performance, Tamim Iqbal happy

Tamim Iqbal, Bangladesh opener and vice captain expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Tigers after the nine-wicket win over Canada at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on 12.02.20011 Tamim said, “I think the bowling department was very good today. We also fielded well, so the overall performance was quite satisfying. However, we will try to improve as it is a continuous process.”
The Bangladesh vice captain was particularly impressed with the effort of Shafiul Islam. “I am impressed with Shafiul, he bowled with true venom. He got Davison out with a slower that he had mastered in recent times. So, we can say that our fast bowlers are picking up wickets in the right time,” said Tamim.
The hard-hitting opener, however, was ruing his mode of dismissal. Tamim again said that “I think I batted alright till 55 but after 55 it was not great. I was struggling a bit as I was having a little pain in my hip and I tried to go over the top, I admit that was not a good thing to do. However, had we batted earlier I would have tried to bat differently.”  Concluded by Tamim that, “The performance is a testimony to the Tigers’ improvement. That is the result of our hardwork of the last three years that brought us to a stage to be reckoned with.”
Canadian skipper Ashish Bagai was a disappointed man.  “It is pretty disappointing to start the campaign in this manner. From the first over we started losing wickets and fielding was disappointing as well. So we have lot of errors to work on. We have four days to change our game and then go play against England.” He also said that his players failed to adjust with the wicket. Bagai said, “We are not used to play in this type of wicket. It was low at the beginning. Still we were expecting 220-225 but we weren’t good enough. We didn’t adapt to the conditions quickly and later we failed to recover from the debacle.”
